Susie Bowman & Susan Shaw met in art school and formed a life long friendship. Each has traveled a different artistic path bringing great energy and excitement to their jewelry creations. Both have worked in the corporate world at opposite ends of the industry; Susie in television graphics, and Susan in print media. After several years Susie took a leave of absence to raise a family. During this time she was able to continue her creativity thru weaving and pottery classes while setting up a studio at home. It was soon clear that Susie’s passion was for clay with a concentration on functional pottery and sculpture. She began experimenting beyond the bounds of traditional glazes as she researched alternative firing techniques and applied them to her pieces. The results were spectacular.

Susan remained in the business world of graphic design for nearly 20 years, the last 10 with her own design business. Susan’s change of direction came with the purchase of a small farm which was intended to become her graphic design studio. Studio doors soon closed and farm gates opened. Susan’s passion for art and animals took over and led her to create TheArtBarn at Morningglory Farm, where life is all about art, animals, nature and exploring creativity. TheArtBarn has been highlighted on the Weather Channel, in a recent CNN special on Happiness, in Travel Girl Magazine and in UGA’s Alumni magazine.

Susie & Susan’s friendship and love of art has been rekindled by the kiln. After a summer visit to explore creative concepts they started hand sculpting beads and practicing the various firing techniques Susie had been researching. The outcome was stunning. Each and every bead was a beauty unto itself. They began mixing these beads with other natural elements which combine natures tones and textures. Each is a piece of artwork that you can enjoy and wear with anything from blue jeans to cocktail attire.

Susie & Susan have created each necklace out of a love for art, nature, friendship and pure enjoyment. They hope you will experience the same feelings while wearing these sculptural pieces as they have experienced in creating them.
